I have not known birch to be used for guitars very often.
Amazingly, though, it is BIRCH wood (including the top) and really quite resonant. It is a very simple guitar with simple features and parts. It has very cool 'H' inlays in the rosewood fingerboard for position markers (they used regular 'dots' on this model a couple years later), and in early 70's they used a white pickguard. The lower bout is only 13.5 inches across. This is considered a ' parlour' sized or 3/4 size guitar, and it has a 24 1/4 inch scale.
This is an almost '50-year-old' Harmony H6130 guitar made circa 1972.
